Marie Charmes
Marie Charmes is a young artist from the Cantal department in France, who paints on
canvas and porcelain. She sets the stage with a palette of little women with a sly glance,
scarlet lips like a geisha, pale faces and rouged cheeks. Women are her favourite
subject.
Painting is her passion. Inspired by the femininity of Klimt’s paintings and Miro’s use of
colour, she uses acrylics and a paintbrush. “I don’t know how to draw. So I schematize,”
she admits. She likes colour. “I love having an enormous amount of colour. It has to
sparkle.”
Marie Charmes was recently discovered and listed by the Drouot guide, which means
exceptional international recognition and an honour in the art world! Thanks to her blog,
noisette.over-blog.com, her clientele now extends beyond France, to Switzerland,
England, Finland, the USA and Russia, among others.
